A. pipes|drums magazine was launched in 1989, and was put together for the Pipers And Pipe Band Society of Ontario. pipes|drums website was started in 1996, making it the world's first piping and drumming news website. It has gone through four redesigns, each adding more content and features for readers. The final print version of pipes|drums was dated March 2006, and the publication is now consolidated into the website.

A. pipes|drums generally achieves between 4,000 and 6,000 unique visits every weekday, and that number rises to more than 9,000 a day at times of heavy, breaking news. It is by far the most popular piping and drumming news website in the world.

Q. Who writes the articles?
A. pipes|drums features writing by many of the world's top pipers and drummers and authorities. Most news articles and results and many features are written by the editor of the website, with input from sources around the world. Articles are compiled and written with complete objectivity. Reviews are assigned to those experts without any substantial connection to the artist, compiler or manufacturer.
