COMMENT(S): The pipes|drums Survey

Sounds like less government is more government. But I feel sorry for these executive types. They usually volunteer their time just to get crapped on by ungrateful members. They're giving medals to the wrong people at the highland games!

I just went back to this survey after reading the NOV29 2007 article on the BCPA survey. I am curious how 69% satisfaction and 31% dissatisfaction in this 2006 survey about pipe band association leadership equates to a majority being dissatisfied as the summary concludes. Last I checked, 69% satisfaction would be the majority. Even if part of that was only somewhat satisfied, it was still satisfied. Also, as a member of the EUSPBA current Exec and chair of the nominating committee for the most recent elections I think I can speak to satisfaction of dissatisfaction. Out of close to 2500 solo members and over 200 bands, we had two people other than the incumbents who ran for office. And less than 25% voter turn-out. Although comparitively speaking, 25% ain't bad. Still, it seems to me that if people truly ARE dissatisfied, then they need to get off their butts and change it. Run for office. Or at least vote.

Pipers: When making a taorluath or crunluath from D, slightly flex the right-hand's fingers out a bit just before the movement. This will help to lift the ring-finger for that B gracenote.
