| When I was growing up I heard John Burgess playing at a recital in Campbeltown....it was brilliant and I'll never forget it. All the young players wanted to be able to play like him in these days and loads, including myself, learned 'Kilbowie Cottage', a tune I still play but it was synonymous with John.
What we would realise as the years passed was that no-one would ever be like him. |

| With all due respect to the many fine reviewers of cd's, books, etc., it is indeed a rare event when the review inspires me enough to go out and buy the reviewed item. Not this time!
Although I have met, conversed and even been judged by the great John D., I will definitely buy this thanks to the extremely well written review.
THANKS!!! |

| For some reason my Dad had a copy of an LP JDB made in the 1950s. I truly played the grooves off of it as a 12-year-old, listening to "Lament for the Children," among others. I can honestly say that even in St. Louis, MO, his playing inspired me just as much on a crackly old record as it did when Willie heard him in recital in Campbeltown. What is it about certain pipers that inspires people so? |

| I probably listened to that same LP and I still have it in a box in the basement. A picture of John Burgess, Wille Ross, and our PM, Bob Sim, hung in our band room for years. What an inspiration! Question: where can I purchase the CD? I went to the publisher website and found no info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I have ordered this CD from the above contact, however it is pretty expensive once you convert the exchange and pay the shipping.
I know because my wife has pointed this out to me.
Hope it helps |

| Thanks much for the help. I've ordered the CD from bagpipediscs.com. Just one more website I should have never found out about! |

| One last thing: I read the jacket notes to the CD last night and on page 3 the picture captioned "Presentation Dinner, Chicago, 1952" shows Bob Sim in his PM uniform seated next to Willie Ross. Small world. | |
