It's probably worth noting that Cheape's rather impenetrable interview with PD is not the same style of writing that prevails in the book, which is clearly written and not quite as controversial as it was painted to be.

I also agree that P/M MacLean's review was well written and informative. I would, however, disagree that the "gap" between MacLean's thesis and the author's is "not large."

This is a clear, very helpful review. The preliminary discussion of this book, prior to its release, had really discouraged my interest. I'm afraid the author's own explanation of his intent didn't help much for me. Thanks to Mr. MacLean. He has renewed my curiosity.
