Our band actually makes it obligatory for pipers to take part in solo competitions. We feel this has led to a steady rise in the band's overall competition performance in the last 3 years, when we started competing. Being from Mexico, we don't have easy access to competitions in Canada or the US, considering the travelling expenses involved, but we try to attend at least 1 oe 2 solo competitions a year. It definitely has paid off.
