Wow - I read about these guys, and I think maybe I should just hang my pipes on the mantle. I've found Mr. McCallum to be very approachable and a gentleman as well - my wife still has the photo I took of him and her at the Todd Bar at one of the recitles 7 or 8 years ago :)

Striking on a first reading, to note that Willie McCallum at HIS level, says the same things that an excellent piping tutor says right from the start. Instrument, Technique and Music. All need to be attended to, and anyone of them missing, affects the whole lot. The other 'first impression' , along with the small print attached to each of the above 'headlines', is the extent to which Willie McCallum has been, and is, willing and open to learning and thinking, both from others, and from his own reflections on his own music. A great article, which surely anybody involved with learning to play, or play better, will want to read, re-read, and learn from.
