.....oh and I meant to say - it's always nice to see some artwork associated with tunes and to read of the history behind both them and the people. In other words, the research and the way these are written, give a lovely FULL picture of the tunes and where they've come from, and also the context in which they arose.

The 1and2 3, 1and2 3 rhythm that gets set up right at the start by Rossini, leads so naturally into the tune. The 3/4 feel established right from the start. Our habitual drum rolls setting up a 4/4 feel is all at odds with the 3/4 (and 9/8) melodies. I've been trying to imagine ballerinas mingling with the massed bands in a rendition of The Green Hills. Not an easy combination. Nice to hear the original, and also to hear Andy Stewart again and those words - I was brought up on Andy Stewart and the White Heather Club.

Once again, very well done, Jim! This tune brings back so many memories...My first teacher, Bob Gilchrist, used to sing this song and it was always an emotional experience listening to the lyrics.

Finding such a rich history to a tune that I think many of us have played for so long and just taken for granted is a real eye opener. I hope I can switch off the "auto pilot" and show it a little more respect next time
