A great read Meaghan. Words from the heart. Terrific interview. That Gold Medal was no lucky accident. Faye will be part of our history now. In a couple of hundred years or so, in Piping Exams and quizzes, pipers will always know the answer to 'Who was the first Lady to win the Gold Medal for piobaireachd'. And what a huge test it is too these days. So easy to fumble and crumble on tunes that are now required, rather than part of one's choice of repertoire. My respect and congratulations to Faye, Andrew and all the 2010 Medalists ~ Roger Huth

Congratulations Faye on your big win. I heard your tune in the medal and for what it is worth I thought it was excellent, played on a full toned rich pipe, full of music and played with a class beyond your years. All the best in your future piping career, regards Gordon McCready.

Curt: There really haven't been many women playing in top bands and doing really well in solos. A few, yes, but by no means "lots."

I am not sure there is such a bias towards men in piping, but maybe there is? I do know that proof is always in the pudding. Let Faye compete without making it a battle of the sexes. The music will speak for itself. There have been lots of women playing extremely well in solos and top bands. I think it is most impressive that Faye is 18, not that she is a women. Women can win at the highest level if they choose to keep going with it. I have a feeling Faye is on quite a track. It might be better if people looked at her for piping and not what sex she is. It might be better for her as well. Let her music do the talking. That is what people want to hear mostly.

Really really great, reading that so-well-written interview with such a down-to-earth-lovely-modest-sensible-ordinary-teenage-world-class-piobaireachd-player. It's a fabulous achievement for anyone, never mind an eighteen year old and Faye you are an inspiration to us all. You show by those answers that it took hard work over a long time and there was lots of great support from your family. What a combination, and what a great achievement. Congratulations a zillion times over!!

| If those "old farts" were here in Ontario they obviously never met Gail Brown or heard her play. They really should get out more! | |
