Just a note that the College of Wooster, Ohio has a degree program as well. It's not well publicized but it's here! The college is consistently ranked as one of the best schools for Undergraduate research year after year, beating out the Ivy's, so it's a great education for non piping endeavors as well! For more info, email Andrew Donlon @ adonlon14@wooster.edu!

Thanks for a thoughtful article. Just to put a word in for our own programme, the BMus in Folk and Traditional Music here at Newcastle University: A four year degree offering a full scholarly and performance based education focused on traditional musics from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales. Lots more information available on our website. We offer a really vibrant and fun place to make music from Undergraduate through to Doctoral level in one of the top 10 departments in the UK (Times Good Uni Guide 2012). Simon McKerrell.

Donald MacPherson: the pipes|drums Interview from the Archives – Part 1featured article

Don't be afraid to modify or undercut holes to improve chanter intonation. It may seem extreme, but there would scarcely be a Grade 1 band that hasn't partaken in a spot of chanter renovation to beneficial effect.
