| What a fantastic opportunity for a talent such as Ryan. Other comments here suggest a loss for FMM. Fair call indeed but they'll move on. The only loss that FMM has to worry about is PM Parkes because he is that band. I have a feeling that, almost to a man, every piper is there to play for and under Richard. His retirement may well spark a mass exodus.

| A big congrats to Ryan for taking on the job, I'm sure he will bring a lot of experience to this great band and with Jim at the back end i think Shotts will be all set..:-)

| Shotts needed to act fast and they've struck gold. I look forward to seeing this great band back on good form next season. It's also a mark of how well Field Marshal have built up their pipe corps that, although they'll miss Canning (or possibly the Cannings plural), it's not a disaster for the future of their band either given the talent within the ranks. |

| Congratulations to Ryan. He will leave a massive gap in that legendary FMM front row. He is a magnificent musician, and the Shotts are very lucky people indeed. One presumes Mrs Canning will join him? That would be another big loss to FMM. Having said that, Richard Parkes has a habit of finding the best pipers to fill gaps.... | |
