Dowco-Triumph Street joins FMM in 2012 Pipes of Peace Concert
Published: December 12, 2011

Following the success of the 2011 Pipes of Peace Concert in Glasgow, the promoters will again bring the event to the Scottish Exhibition and Concert Centre, this time with 2011 World Champions Field Marshal Montgomery joining Vancouver's Dowco-Triumph Street taking centre stage.

The event will be on Thursday, August 9th, at 7:15 pm, with tickets priced at £18.50, on sale January 25, 2012.

The event will be the sixth annual Pipes of Peace Concert and the second at the SECC "Armadillo." The folk group Celtic Spirit promotes and performs at the event each year, and Bob Worrall of Burlington, Ontario, will again be the master of ceremonies.

The 2011 Pipes of Peace concert featured a twin-bill of 2010 World Champions St. Laurence O'Toole and six-time World's winners Simon Fraser University. The 2012 concert is once again being sponsored by R.G. Hardie & Co. Ltd.

While seven-time World's winners Field Marshal Montgomery have performed numerous times in big-stage concerts, the performance will be a first outside of North America for Dowco-Triumph Street, which finished ninth overall in the Grade 1 Final at the 2011 World Pipe Band Championship.

The Pipes of Peace Concert is part of a packed World's Week in Glasgow that includes numerous Piping Live! events over the course of the seven days, and traditional "Pre-World's" concert promoted by the Phoenix Honda-Glasgow Skye Pipe Band, which will be performed by the Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Pipers: Never remove a chanter from the stock by grabbing the sole even if it's plastic. It's habit forming and you might one day change to a wooden chanter.
