78th Frasers bring “Flame” concert home

Toronto’s 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band will take the stage at Hamilton Place in Hamilton, Ontario, on October 2-3, 1999, with a performance of the band’s “Flame of Wrath” production.

Sponsored by the Hamilton Wentworth Police Pipe Band, the band will be joined by the Celtic Accent Dance Company of Toronto.

The band has mounted “Flame of Wrath” in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and various US cities, but never in Canada.

Tickets — priced at Cdn$29.50 and Cdn$24.50 — are available from Hamilton Place or Copps Coliseum box office (tel. 905.645.5000), from TicketMaster outlets, members of the Hamilton Wentworth Police Pipe Band (e-mail forgans@interlynx.net), or members the 78th Frasers (e-mail evhazz@idirect.com).

The concert marks the band’s first appearance since the 1999 World Pipe band Championships, where they finished eighth. Subsequently, the result has been the subject of controversy throughout the pipe band world.
