MacColl, Gandy, Brunson big winners in Jersey

Newark, New Jersey – February 16, 2013 – Angus MacColl of Benderloch, Scotland, captured the overall prize at the annual Metro Cup Solo Piping Competition, put on by the Metro Branch of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. MacColl won the Medley section and was second in the Piobaireachd event, which Bruce Gandy of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, won.

Held at the Ramada Inn in Newark, the contest aslo features the Pipe-Major George M. Bell Amateur Grade 1 competition, cormprising contestants from each of the six branches of the EUSPBA and the top amateurs from the Midwest Pipe Band Association, the Southern United States Pipe Band Association, the Western United States Pipe Band Association, the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario, and the winner of the National Piping Centre’s CLASP competition. Kirk Brunson of Derry, New Hampshire, was the overall winner.
