Stuart_Highlanders_full_logoPerth, Scotland – August 10, 2014 – The glorious sunshine on Scotland’s brighter side at North Berwick on Saturday gave way to heaving rain in Perth on Sunday. Several bands entered, including the 78th Fraser Highlanders of Canada and New Zealand’s Canterbury Caledonian, opted not to compete rather than subject their instruments and players to the weather. Ultimately, the Stuart Highlanders proved the RSPBA’s upgrade of the band to Grade 1 accurate, by winning the event. St. Thomas Alumni of Houston adjusted to the weather well, throwing down the Grade 2 gauntlet by taking straight firsts.
