Speirs captures fourth Silver Chanter
Dunvegan, Skye, Scotland – August 8, 2012 – Iain Speirs of Edinburgh won his fourth Silver Chanter at Dunvegan Castle, continuing his great success rate when competing in the invitational event, which commemorates the music by and connected with the MacCrimmon dynasty of Skye. It was Speirs’s fourth win in five tries. Speirs gained the award playing “The King’s Taxes.”
Others contestants were Andrew Hayes, Ottawa, “Lament for the Duke of Hamilton,” Murray Henderson, Kirriemuir, Scotland, “Mrs. MacLeod of Talisker’s Salute,” Angus MacColl Benderloch, Scotland, “Lament for Mary MacLeod,” Innes Smith, Glasgow, “Lament for MacSwan of Roaig,” and Niall Stewart, Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland, “Lament for the Children.”
The event was judged by Jim McGillivray.
