Sarah Muir of East Kilbride, Scotland, was the overall Premier and A-Grade winner at the annual Highlands & Islands Solo Piping Competition, organized by the Netherlorn Piping Society and held indoors at Oban High School. Muir won the MSR and was third in the Piobaireachd, and was the only competitor to feature in both prize lists. Brodie Watson-Massey of Edinburgh won the Piobaireachd.

Nick Hudson of Houston was the overall winner of the 2026 Ian Swinton Open Solo Piping Competition, with a first in the Piobaireachd and a third in the MSR, the only player to feature in both prize lists. Jack Williamson of Topeka, Kansas, won the MSR event.

Steven Shedden of Melbourne, Australia, won the 2026 RSPBA Oceania Pipe Band Snare Drumming Championship held at St. Andrew’s College, the fifth event in the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association’s eight-contest league to determine a Champion of Champions title.

The big winners at the 2026 Atlantic Canada Piobaireachd Challenge were James MacHattie from Summerside and Nova Scotia’s Bruce Gandy, winning the two Professional events at the annual competition held at the College of Piping and the Scott MacAulay Performing Arts Centre. Brady Webb won both Grade 1 amateur events.

radley Parker of Glasgow was the overall winner of the 2026 Pipe-Major’s Wheel of Fortune Invitational Solo Piping & Humour Competition, held at the Danderhall Miners’ Club before the customary appreciative and lively audience. Parker won both the Medley and the MSR events.

With straight firsts in both events in the two-band Grade 2 competition, the hometown Dominion Pipe Band was the top winner at the indoor Manitoba Scottish Festival (previously the Winnipeg Scottish Festival), held at Red River College Polytechnic.

Jonathan Quay of Melbourne won all four A-Grade events at the Victorian Pipers’ Association’s first in-person solo piping competition of 2026. The event was held at Rupertswood Mansion on the grounds of Salesian College in Sunbury, a suburb of Melbourne.

MacMillan from Washington, DC, won Grade 2 and with it the American Pipe Band Champions title at the annual Virginia International Tattoo & American Pipe Band Championships held at Scope Arena.

Only a few days after being made leading-drummer of the Grade 1 78th Fraser Highlanders, Kyle Wardell won both Professional events at the annual Agnew-Harrison Invitational Solo Drumming Competition at the John Weir Foote VC Armoury.

Cameron May of Lesmahagow, Scotland, enjoyed a day for the ages with three firsts and a second to gain the overall championship trophy at the annual Scottish Pipers Association solo competitions. By winning both the A-Grade 2/4 March and the Strathspey & Reel, May competed in the Former Winners MMSSRR.

The Grade 2 Western Australia Police under Pipe-Major Chris MacDonald and Leading Drummer Brian Green were awarded the 2026 Australian Pipe Band Championship at the biannual contest hosted this year by Pipe Bands Western Australia at Subiaco Oval in Subiaco, a suburb of the Western Australia state capital.

The Emmanuel College Highlanders (University of Queensland) and The Pipeband Club won the Medley and MSR events, respectively, and it was Emmanuel College that took the overall Grade 2 trophy at the annual 121st Maclean Highland Gathering, one of the world’s longest-running piping and drumming events.

Topping his own record, Greg Wilson of Tai Tapu, New Zealand, won the Murray Henderson Clasp to the Gold Medal for the nineteenth time at the Hastings Highland Games, held over the Easter weekend in New Zealand’s Hawkes Bay region. Wilson went on to win the aggregate A Grade trophy.

Competitors with the last name “Gandy” did very well at the British Columbia Pipers’ Association’s Annual Gathering, with Alex Gandy winning the MacCrimmon Cairn Open Piobaireachd and Bruce Gandy winning the aggregate Open Championship with an MSR win and Piobaireachd second, punctuating his overall tally.
