Tayside Police celebrates Grade 1 promotion

The Tayside Police Pipe Band celebrated its official promotion to Grade 1 with the force’s Chief Constable, John Vine, at a civic event that fetted the band over the weekend.

The Tayside Police were the only RSPBA Grade 2 band to make the leap to Grade 1, after winning the Champion of Champions title in the grade and finsihing second at the World Pipe Band Championships.

The band has also named Ian Duncan its “Musical Director.” Duncan joined the Tayside Police after the Drambuie-Kirkliston Pipe Band folded due to the loss of its sponsorship after the 2005 season, shortly after it too was promoted to Grade 1.
