Updated: Win a fabulous prize-pack in pipes|drums’ ‘Predict The Six’ contest

Stuart Cassells shows exceptional taste in clothing while sightseeing in Toronto.

On the heels of pipes|drums’ panel prediction for the Grade 1 prize list at the World Pipe Band Championship on August 11 in Glasgow, registered p|d readers are invited to submit their own prediction for the chance of winning a special prize package valued at more than $100 in our first-ever “Predict The Six” contest.

Readers must submit their top-six picks via the Comments feature to this or the pipes|drums Panel Prediction story. Submissions must include the reader’s e-mail address in the Comments form – which cannot be seen by other readers – to be eligible.

Ideally, the winner will pick the prize list in order. If more than one entry gets the list exactly right, a random draw will be made. If no entry is completely correct, the submission that picks the winner correctly and gains the most points from the following system: 3 points for choosing a band in the right spot, and 1 point for including a band that made the final prize list but in not in the correct place.

Readers are requested to enter only once.

Among the prizes will be special pipes|drums merchandise, including a t-shirt like the one that the famous piper Stuart Cassells of the Red Hot Chili Pipers is wearing in the photo.
Also in the prize package will be an open-ended subscription to pipes|drums and $100 in cash.

The winner will be notified by e-mail and a story will be posted on the site on Sunday, August 12th. The winner’s name will be withheld, if desired.

Good luck to readers and good luck to all bands competing on August 11th!

  1. 1st: SFU 2nd: FMM 3rd: Strathclyde Police 4th: Shotts 5th: Boghall 6th: SLOT I’m pretty confident about my 1-5, but 6th is a bit of wildcard this year. If 78th did not have to do the morning qualifier as well I would probably have them in there.

  2. 1. SL78th Fraser Highlanders 2. FMM 3. Strathclyde Police 4. SFU 5. Shotts & Dykehead 6. SLOT I am keenly aware that my predictions are hugely at variance with the opinions of the experts, but anything can happen on the day, right?
