Bagpiper, Barry Shears, will share the distinct style and repertoire of pipe music in the strongly Scottish settlements of Canada¡¯s Cape Breton Island. (Tunes will be taught in the traditional manner, by ear¡ªbring your chanter, pipes, and a tape recorder.) Dancer Alison Shears will teach a concurrent workshop in the exuberant art of Cape Breton Stepdance¡ªa lively yet relaxed style that Scots are now RE-discovering, thanks to the folks of Cape Breton who passed down this old Scottish art and kept it alive and kicking!
