(Tunes will be taught in the traditional manner, by ear¡ªbring your chanter, pipes, and a tape recorder.) Dancer Alison Shears will teach a concurrent workshop in the exuberant art of Cape Breton Stepdance¡ªa lively yet relaxed style that Scots are now RE-discovering, thanks to the folks of Cape Breton who passed down this old Scottish art and kept it alive and kicking! The National Piping Centre is collaborating with the National Trust for Scotland to run a new annual Piobaireachd competition. The first event will be held on the 14th of April 2007 in the Drumossie Hotel, near Culloden and this event coincides with the re-dedication of the battlefield. Four invited Pipers will perform tunes associated with the Battle of Culloden and the Jacobite Era. The guest pipers are William McCallum, Angus MacColl,Euan MacCrimmon and Dr Angus MacDonald.
