Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust to be launched

A memorial trust to honour the memory of the late piper Gordon Duncan will be launched with proceeds reportedly going to teaching- and assistance-programs for young pipers.
The new trust will collect proceeds from various projects related to Gordon Duncan. A collection of his music is currently being assembled by Ian Duncan, Gordon Duncan’s equally famous older brother.

Duncan died suddenly almost one year ago at the age of 43, leaving a legacy of brilliant recordings, acclaimed compositions, and legendary memories. He had been working on a recording with Greentrax Records at the time of his death, having completed one track. A future compact disc on the Greentrax label is reportedly also in the works, using archive material. Proceeds also will be channeled to the Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust.



A tribute to Duncan was held on August 12 of this year at the National Piping Centre, which was heralded by many as the highlight of the entire World’s Week in Glasgow.

Throughout his life, Gordon Duncan was committed to assisting young pipers.
