78th Frasers take Hamilton

Hamilton, Ontario – June 25, 2005 – The 78th Fraser Highlanders of Toronto started their season in fine form, winning the first PPBSO Championship under blazing hot conditions. The band won playing with 16 pipers, five side drummers, three tenors and a bass.

The Niagara Police won the Grade 2 contest, while the Hamilton Police and Rob Roy took grades 3 and 4, respectively.

In the professional solo piping, results were scattered, but James MacHattie of Toronto gained the overall award.

The temperature soared to 35 degrees, with a humidity index of 43, making tuning and stamina challenging.
