78th Frasers win at Kincardine

Kincardine, Ontario – July 3, 2004 – The picturesque town of Kincardine on the shores of Lake Huron played host to one of the more popular smaller events on the PPBSO circuit, the Kincardine Scottish Festival, under perfect, sunny weather. The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band made its 2004 contest debut, winning the three-band Grade 1 event.

The Grade 2 event was also a three-band race, this time with the Glengarry Pipe Band taking the contest. All six bands in the Grade 1 and Grade 2 events plan to compete at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow in August.

John Cairns of London, Ontario, won the overall award in the professional solo piping against a field of about 10 entrants.

Letterkenny, Ireland – July 3, 2004 – The All-Ireland Pipe Band Championship was won by Field Marshal Montgomery (FMM) in a close contest that saw second-prize-winners St. Laurence O’Toole (SLOT) win the March, Strathspey & Reel section of the competition. SLOT won the drumming for the third consecutive year.

In Grade 2 Ballinderry Bridge won the overall title as well as the drumming.
