Bevan Wins BC Piping Knockout

Vancouver – March 8, 2003 – Alan Bevan of Surrey, British Columbia, won the annual BC Pipers Association’s (BCPA) Professional Piping Knockout final over three other finalists held at the United Scottish Cultural Centre. Over 200 people attended the event, which was held in conjunction with the BCPA’s annual dinner.

Second prize went to James P. Troy of Victoria, British Columbia. Each competitor had to play an eight to 10 minute selection of their own choice, and the contest was judged by Dan Diessner, David Hilder, and Jim McGillivray.

Also competiting were Andrew Bonar and Dani Millar.

The Professional Side Drumming Knockout final was won by Andre Tessier, with second prize going to Duncan Millar. Each drummer had to play a march, strathspey, reel, jig, and hornpipe, and the event was judged by Reid Maxwell, Willie McErlean, and Gregor Merry.
