CPA to hold first-ever ceilidh/recital

The Competing Pipers Association (CPA) has announced that it will hold a ceilidh/recital night on February 27, 2004, with all attendees encouraged to bring pipes and other instruments.

The event will be held in Edinburgh at the West End Hotel on Palmerston Place. The hotel was the venue for meetings of the now defunct Eagle Pipers Club, an organization that was a precursor to the CPA. The Eagle Pipers held a highly successful recital/competition for several years in the 1970s and ’80s.

The event begins at 8:00 p.m. A main recitalist is still to be determined.

According to CPA president Colin MacLellan, “The main idea is to have an informal, social get-together. If the idea is well received, it may spin off to a more regular event.”

Details may be obtained from the CPA secretary Jenny Hazzard
