Donald MacDonald Quaich goes to Speirs

Armadale, Skye – June 13, 2009 – Iain Speirs of Edinburgh was awarded the Donald MacDonald Quaich for piobaireachd, at the annual invitational contest that called for competitors to perform settings of tunes in the style of Donald MacDonald. Speirs played “Lady Margaret MacDonald’s Salute” to gain the prize, which is sponsored by Glenfiddich.
 
Other competitors were Euan MacCrimmon, ‘The MacLeods’ Salute’; John Angus Smith, London, ‘Cill Chriosda’; and Alastair Dunn, Glasgow, ‘Too Long in this Condition.’
