Doug Stronach new leading-drummer for Toronto Police

The Toronto Police Pipe Band has revealed that Doug Stronach, who has spent the last three years with cross-town rivals, the Peel Regional Police, is the band’s new leading-drummer. Stronach replaces Craig Stewart, who departed in October.

“I believe that Doug will be an exciting complement to our band, and will help us to be more competitive both locally and in Scotland,” says James MacHattie, Toronto Police pipe-major. “He brings a wealth of talent and experience, and his musical approach is very compatible with ours.”

In addition to the Peel Police, Stronach has played with several other bands, including the Vale of Atholl before he immigrated to Canada in the late-1980s. He is a professional studio drummer, percussion teacher, and recording engineer, and currently serves on the Music Board of the Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario.
