Embro Pipers Survive the Heat

Embro, Ontario – June 30, 2001 – The annual Zorra Highland Gathering at Embro, Ontario, was held for a change not on the traditional July 1 Canada Day, but the event attracted perhaps the biggest crowds yet in the young Ontario season. One estimate pegged attendance at upwards of 20,000 paying spectators.

Michael Grey of Dundas, Ontario, continued his torrid 2001 pace by taking the “Piper of the Day” award for best aggregate performances. No Grade 1 or Grade 2 bands attended.

Weather was extremely hot for the area, with temperatures hovering around the 33 degrees Celsius mark.
