FMM and R.G. Hardie extend sponsorship deal

The six-time World Pipe Band Champions Field Marshal Montgomery of Belfast has extended its sponsorship agreement with R.G. Hardie & Co. Ltd. of Glasgow for another two years. The organizations originally got together in 2006 for a three-year agreement.

Part of the new deal will see Field Marshal Montgomery wear the company’s new “Piper Flex Jacket,” a product designed and trademarked by Hardie.
Released in late-2008, the Piper Flex Jacket is designed especially for pipe band players, with construction and material that stretch if necessary while the performer is playing.
R.G. Hardie is part of the St. Kilda group of companies. Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe-Sergeant Alastair Dunn is General Manager of Hardie.

“We are very aware that the future of Hardies is dependent on the quality of the products we produce and the service we provide,” Dunn said. “The continued partnership with Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band will ensure Hardies stays at the forefront of piping.”

According to Dunn more than half of the Field Marshal pipe section is competing with Peter Henderson drones, also manufactured by R.G. Hardie.

The band said that it will sell their existing “Piper” jackets and those interested should contact the band by e-mail at info@fmmpb.com.
