France says ‘oui’ to Clan Gregor

The Grade 1 Clan Gregor Society Pipe Band of Stirling, Scotland, will return to France later this month to take the stage with Bagad Kemper, Fred Morrison and Julie Fowlis at the Festival de Cornouaille 2007 in Quimper, Brittany, France.

Clan Gregor had performed previously with Bagad Kemper at the Celtic Connections music festival in Glasgow in January 2006.

The Quimper concert is scheduled for July 16th, and the band will also perform throughout the week at the festival.

“We welcome this opportunity for the Clan Gregor Society Pipe Band to once again perform along side such renowned acts and continue to cement good relations between the two cultures,” Pipe-Major David Clunie said. “This is a welcome variation to our normal schedule amid the competition season, and learning Breton music is always a welcome challenge. To play on stage with Bagad Kemper is unique. The variety of instruments, music styles and performance set-up throws a whole new perspective on the normal Scottish theme.”

After the Festival de Cornouaille, Clan Gregor will return to compete at the European Championships on July 28th in Inverness, Scotland, and the World Championships on August 11th in Glasgow. The band finished tenth and eighth at the 2007 British and Scottish championships, respectively.
