Grade 2 Dartmouth & District shuts down for 2009

Another top-level band will not be competing in 2009, with news that the Grade 2 Dartmouth & District Pipe Band of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, deciding to go on hiatus due to heavy loss of personnel after the 2008 season.
 
The organization’s junior program, which includes a Grade 4 band, is apparently not affected by the Grade 2 band’s misfortunes.
 
A source close to the band, who spoke on condition of anonymity, indicated that the Grade 2 band has not officially folded.
 
The heaviest personnel losses have been in the drum section, including Leading-Drummer Jeremy White.
 
Some Dartmouth members have reportedly joined the Grade 1 78th Highlanders (Halifax Citadel).
 
Dartmouth & District finished seventh in Grade 2 at the 2008 North American Championships.
