Iain Speirs in top form at Scottish Pipers

Glasgow – April 23, 2005 – Edinburgh’s Iain Speirs won both the Piobaireachd and Former Winners MSR events at the annual Scottish Pipers Association (SPA) competitions, which attracted a decent crowd of Scotland’s better solo pipers.

3rd William Geddes, “March for a Beginner”
4th John Angus Smith, Glasgow, “Clanranald’s Salute”

Former Winners MSR
1st Iain Speirs, “Edinburgh City Police,” “Arniston Castle,” “John McKechnie”
2nd Stuart Liddell, Inveraray, Scotland
3rd Allan Russell, Kelty, Scotland
Judges: Barry Donaldson, Angus J. MacLellan

Simon MacKerrell, Edinburgh, and Peter Hunt, Glasgow, won the March and Strathspey & Reel events.
