John Cairns joins The Band Room

John Cairns of London, Ontario, is a new partner with The Band Room of Glasgow, working with the organization on its line of R.G. Hardie- and Peter Henderson-branded bagpipes.

The Band Room acquired the famous Hardie and Henderson lines in May 2004.

Cairns will reportedly act as an advisor to The Band Room, and the company states that Cairns “will perform the role of ambassador and endorsee for the full range of R.G. Hardie products including the . . . new Peter Henderson bagpipes.”

Cairns’s joining The Band Room comes on the heels of James Wark, former Pipe-Major of the Strathclyde Police, in February joining McCallum Bagpipes of Kilmarnock, Scotland, in a similar capacity.

Cairns has won both Highland Society of London Gold Medals and last fall won the Bratach Gorm. He plays with the 78th Fraser Highlanders and is the owner of Bagpipe Solutions, which has produced eight volumes so far of a popular tutor book.
