McCallum and Lee confirm Metro Cup attendance

Top-tier solo pipers Jack Lee (pictured right), Surrey, British Columbia, and Willie McCallum, Bearsden, Scotland, have confirmed that they will travel to compete at the annual Metro Cup Solo Piping Championship February 16, 2008, in Newark, New Jersey. It will be the first time that either piper has participated in the event.

McCallum and Lee join, among other confirmed competitors, Alastair Dunn, Glasgow; Margaret Dunn, Glasgow; Bruce Gandy, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Alasdair Gillies, Pittsburgh; Roddy MacLeod, Cumbernauld, Scotland; John Patrick, Fankerton, Scotland; Alen Tully, Dublin; and Gordon Walker, Galston, Scotland.

The competition, which consists of Piobaireachd and Medley events, is organized by the Metro New York Branch of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. The contest will be held at the Holiday Inn North, and Jim McGillivray, James Stack, and Gavin Stoddart will judge.

In addition to the professional event, the Pipe-Major George M. Bell Amateur Championship will also run on the day, beginning at 8:30 am.
