More than 40 expected to attend PPBSO Judges Seminar

The Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) will hold its annual Judges Seminar on Saturday, May 14, and more than 40 of the organization’s adjudicators are expected to attend the five-hours of professional development sessions.

Among the topics covered at the seminar will be a session on improving communications through score sheets, which will consider various methods of providing clearer feedback to competitors; a session on today’s pipe band ensemble, and the increasingly important role of the bass section in a band’s overall performance; and various sessions tailored especially for drumming judges.

The seminar is organized by the PPBSO’s Music Board. “The piping, drumming and pipe band world changes constantly,” said PPBSO Music Board chair Andrew Berthoff, “and it’s up to us to stay on ahead of that change. The seminar is certain to be valuable for all who attend.”
