Northern Meeting set to receive world’s best solo pipers

The Northern Meeting once again will welcome almost 100 of the world’s elite solo pipers in a two-day competition in Aviemore, Scotland, just south of Inverness, August 30th and 31st.

Held now a week after the contest’s sister competition, the Argyllshire Gathering, highlight events at the Northern Meeting are the Highland Society of London’s Gold Medal, the Clasp for previous winners of a Gold Medal, the Silver Star Former Winners March, Strathspey & Reel, and the A-Grade MSR.

Three years ago the Northern Meeting moved to Aviemore after traditionally being held in Inverness. The move has proven popular with most competitors, since the competitions are held within the hotel at which most competitors stay.

pipes|drums plans to have results from the Northern Meeting as they become available.
