PPBSO AGM December 9
The annual general meeting of the Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) is scheduled to be held in Guelph, Ontario, on Saturday, December 9, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Hall A, 919 York Road.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and is scheduled to continue until 4 p.m. Among the items on the agenda is the election of executive officers, with the two-year-term Vice-President and Secretary positions up for grabs. The positions have been held by Willie Connell and Barbara McRae, respectively.
The PPBSO AGM had been scheduled originally for November 11, but was moved after concerns were raised that it conflicted with Remembrance Day activities.
More than 20 motions from the Society’s branches will be tabled at the meeting, most of which are administrative. A move to adopt “set tunes” for Grade 5 and Grade 4 solo snare drumming competitions is being put forward, as is a motion to create a formal Juvenile Grade for pipe bands.
The meeting will be followed by a “Champion Supreme Ceilidh” starting at 7 p.m., with tickets priced at $15. The Champion Supreme-winning bands from each grade have been invited to perform at the ceilidh, but it is not known which will attend. Members of each winning band are required to purchase a ticket to the event.
