Perfect weather forecast for World’s

The 2004 World Pipe Band Championships could luck out with picture-perfect weather, if forecasts hold true. A mostly sunny day with a high of 21 degrees is forecast for Glasgow – perfect conditions for the contest, which has more than 220 bands entered.

Scotland has been hit by terrible weather for much of the summer. The Atholl & Breadalbane Gathering and Perth Highland Games have both been cancelled due to swampy venues.

Gordon Duncan, who was to have played in the Todd’s Bar Challenge-Recital at Strathclyde University on Thursday night, had to cancel due to mudslides on the main road from Pitlochry.
