Piping Live! looking for George Square pipe band stars

With less than two months to go before the start of the Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival on August 10th, organizers are looking to secure a few more spots for pipe bands to play in George Square at the traditional open-air 40-minute performances.

Although bands in the top grades are more common performers, all interested bands are encouraged to inquire, according to Festival Director, Roddy MacLeod. Bands are paid for their involvement.

The performances are typically straightforward, traditional pipe band spots, and don’t require concert stage-style selections.

Already confirmed for performances at George Square are The Band Club, Oran Mor, the Hamilton Police, Manawatu Scottish, Alberta Caledonia, Australia Highlanders, Dowco Triumph Street, LA Scots, Inveraray & District, Kintyre Schools, Robert Malcolm Memorial, New Westminster Police and the Lord Selkirk Boys pipe bands.

Bands interested in performing should contact Helen Wilkinson of Piping Live! by e-mail at hwilkinson@thepipingcentre.co.uk.
