Pre-World’s Concert: Field Marshal

The reining World Pipe Band Champions Field Marshal Montgomery have confirmed that it will perform at the annual pre-World’s concert at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall on Wednesday, August 8.

The annual concert has been organized and promoted by the Phoenix Honda Glasgow Skye Pipe Band since the early 1990s and always has featured a prominent Grade 1 band, often the current World Champions.

The last time that Field Marshal performed at the concert before the World’s was in 2002 when the band performed its “Unplugged” show, which was recorded for a well reviewed live recording.

While the band confirmed its August 8 performance after completing negotiations with Phoenix Honda-Glasgow Skye, it has not yet previewed content for the show. The band performs with the ScottishPower Pipe Band on January 27 at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall as part of the Celtic Connections music festival.

The Vale of Atholl Pipe Band performed at the 2006 pre-World’s concert, subsequently releasing a DVD of the event.
