Premier sponsors MHAF drumming events

The Midwest Highland Arts Fund (MHAF) has secured sponsorship of its January “Winter Storm” drumming competitions from Premier Percussion and Jim Kilpatrick. The drum manufacturer will contribute four HTS 700 snare drums and two Premier Hosbilt tenors.

In addition to other prizes, a new drum will be awarded to the winner in each contest, which comprise:

  • Tone Czar Bagpipes-MHAF North American Gold Medal Drumming Championship
  • Tone Czar Bagpipes-MHAF North American Amateur Drumming Championship (amateur grades 1-3)
  • TyFry-MHAF Gold Medal Tenor Drumming Championship
  • TyFry-MHAF North American Amateur Tenor Drumming Championship

“We are extremely lucky to have friends such as Jim and Premier Percussion,” says Jeff Kruske, President of MHAF. “This major gift, added to the medals and cash prizes, will make our contests even more competitive and exciting.”

Now in its fourth year, the MHAF Winter Storm competitions, workshops and recitals are held each January in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to Kilpatrick, “Premier and I want to help make the MHAF Winter Storm drumming competitions the most important in North America. The MHAF Winter Storm Weekend is one of the most unique piping and drumming events in the world.”
