Ronald Morrison dies, age 84
Ronald Morrison of South Uist has died in Glasgow at the age of eighty-four after an illness.
Morrison was well known as a piping judge and teacher, and his students included the Angus MacColl of Oban, a winner of the Clasp at Inverness.
Though never a winner of top prizes, Morrison made a name for himself in piping on the boards in the 1950s and early ’60s. When he retired from competing he took to adjudicating. He stopped judging in 2001.
On behalf of pipers and drummers everywhere, we extend sympathies to Ronald Morrison’s family and friends.
