Shotts renews three-year House of Edgar deal

The Grade 1 House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band of Shotts, Scotland, has renewed its title sponsorship agreement with House of Edgar Highland and Celtic wear makers for a reported three years and £30,000 in cash. The deal also includes tartan for the band’s kilts.

The sponsorship agreement is the third three-year term the band has signed with House of Edgar. R.T. Shepherd & Son and Pearl Drums – announced last week – also sponsor the band, as well as Pipe-Major Robert Mathieson’s own company, The Kilt Centre.

The House of Edgar sponsorship will cover the band until 2011 and will encompass the 100th anniversary of the Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band in 2010.

“This is great news for the band offering us financial security through the band’s hundredth year to be celebrated in 2010,” said Mathieson. “It allows us to financially operate our organization and focus on playing without the economic pressures of the credit crunch that many bands have to face. We are very lucky and very grateful to the House of Edgar for their support.”

House of Edgar is the largest tartan weaver in Scotland, and supplies dealers and kiltmakers throughout the world.

House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead will be the first Grade 1 band to compete at the Scottish Pipe Band Championships in Dumbarton, Scotland, on May 16th.
