Strathclyde Fire & Rescue appoint new Leading-Drummer

Leslie Galbraith has jumped Glasgow-area emergency services pipe bands, becoming the new Leading-Drummer of the Grade 2 Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Pipe Band after serving four years with the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band.

A statement from the Strathclyde Fire & Rescue band indicated that Galbraith has brought eight new members in to the drum section, “from various backgrounds in a manner that has not been damaging to other bands.”

Galbraith replaces Andrew Nichol, who took on the L-D position in February 2006. Nichol remains with the band.

Pipe-Major Robert Shaw said, “The band looks forward to the challenges ahead in a hard and competitive grade.”

He added that the band’s pipe section has gained four new members, two of whom are “highly experienced players. Any dedicated, like minded team-players who are not afraid of a challenge are welcome to join us.”
