(Updated) Iain Macey injured in car crash

The well-known piper Iain Macey was involved in an automobile collision on the morning of September 13 in Michigan in which he sustained head and rib injuries, but his wife of six years died instantly.

Iain and Cobey Macey were travelling to Ann Arbor, Michigan, when their car was struck from the side. Cobey Macey would have been 60 on October 2nd.

Although not a piper, she loved piping and travelled with her husband to competitions at which he was competing or judging. She always had enthusiastic, kind words for competitors.

Cremation will occur on September 15 with only close family attending. There will be no viewing because of the unfortunate circumstances.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18th, at 2 p.m. at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home, 1806 East Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI 49202 USA. Tel: 517-784-3104.

Iain Macey states, “Those wishing to attend are most welcome and any flowers and cards should be sent to the above address.”

On behalf of the piping and drumming world, we extend our condolences to Iain Macey at this sad time.
