(Updated) Martin Duffy Memorial Drumming Competition started by EUSPBA

The Metro Branch of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA) has unveiled plans for the first annual Martin Duffy Memorial Drumming Competition, named in honour of the popular New York-based drummer who died suddenly in an accident at home in January.

Scheduled for June 19 at Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, New Jersey, the event will feature both solo and corps contests for all levels of competitors.

Piper & Drummer Online had previously reported that, once the contest becomes a success, proceeds and donations from the event would go to Martin Duffy’s surviving family via the fund set up after the death of Martin Duffy and his daughter, Hannah.

Piper & Drummer Online has been informed that there are no plans to make the event a money-raiser for the fund.

Entries and advance tickets for the competition may be obtained by contacting Gordon Bell, EUSPBA Metro Branch chairman.
