Vale of Atholl accepts invitation to do pre-World’s concert

The Robert Wiseman Dairies-Vale of Atholl Pipe Band has accepted an invitation from the Phoenix Honda-Glasgow Skye Pipe Band to do the annual pre-World’s performance at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

The concert puts a spotlight on the world’s best bands, and the event has previously showcased, among others, Field-Marshal Montgomery, the 78th Fraser Highlanders, Boghall & Bathgate and, last year, St. Laurence O’Toole.

“At the moment we are looking at lots of new material and there is a strong possibility that the Celtic rock band Wolfstone will be involved, as their piper is a member of the band,’ said Vale of Atholl Pipe-Major Andy Renwick. “The concert will be two hours of band music, and won’t be filled out with solos or duets. The audience will hopefully come to hear the Vale and the Vale is what they will hear.”

It is not known whether a live recording will be made of the concert.

“The band is so chuffed to be asked to do this concert as it has always been presented by the big major bands in the world. A very big honour indeed,” Renwick added.
