‘Winter Storm 2’ CD contest winners

Ten lucky winners of The Winter Storm 2 compact disc were selected in a blind draw on January 1, 2004, in a joint marketing promotion between Piper & Drummer Online and the Midwest Highland Arts Fund, organizers of the January Winter Storm piping and drumming school in Kansas City, Missouri.

The ten winners are:

  • Beth Bisaillion, Ontario
  • Ryan Kennedy, Carnoustie, Scotland
  • Teddy Krogh, Anchorage, Alaska
  • Jack MacLean, Nova Scotia
  • Colleen McLachlan, Georgetown, Ontario
  • Scott Nicholson, Kingston, Ontario
  • Scott Perrier, Vancouver
  • Eduardo Silvera, Montevideo, Uruguay
  • Eric M. Stein, Fort Salonga, New York
  • Emma Watson, Canada

The CD features the playing of teachers at the Winter Storm school, including Alasdair Gillies, Mike Cusack, and John Cairns. The school has been held every January since 2000.

There were over 200 entries to the contest, and winners correctly answered “1972” to the question: What year did World Solo Drumming Champion (and Winter Storm instructor) Jim Kilpatrick first join the Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band?

Many entrants answered 1986, which was actually the year that Kilpatrick joined Shotts & Dykehead for the second time. He played with the Polkemmet Colliery Pipe Band from 1982 until 1986.

Subscribers to the Piper & Drummer magazine can find out much more about Jim Kilpatrick MBE by reading the two-part exclusive interview with him in the Fall and December 2003 editions.

Winners will be contacted by and receive their prize from the Midwest Highland Arts Fund.

    Congratulations to all winners!
