World piping community joins to support Macey

The world’s piping community joined to support Iain Macey after his wife of six years was killed in an automobile crash in Michigan on September 13.

More than 150 people attended the memorial service for Cobey Macey on September 18, which Iain Macey describes as a “beautiful and a fitting tribute to someone who had reached so many hearts.” Macey says that he has lost count of the cards and letters that are still arriving from around the world.

“It will take some time to thank everyone on a personal basis,” he says. “In the meantime, would you please be kind enough to publish a thank you to everyone, on my behalf, for all the support and kind words of comfort conveyed to me during this difficult time. It is really quite overwhelming.”

Originally from Scotland, Iain Macey immigrated to the United States several years ago. He teaches piping and, through his business, The Route to the Highlands, is a dealer in piping-related products in Parma, Michigan.
