World’s Grade 1 finalists decided

Glasgow – August 14, 2010 – After an 18-band MSR Qualifying competition at Glasgow Green, the following five Grade 1 bands emerged as finalists for the afternoon Medley and MSR competitions to determine the 2010 World Pipe Band Champion.

78th Fraser Highlanders (Canada)

Auckland and District (New Zealand)

Cullybackey (Northern Ireland)

Dowco Triumph Street (Canada)

Fife Constabulary (Scotland)

Robert Wiseman Dairies-Vale of Atholl (Scotland)

These bands join Boghall & Bathgate (Scotland); Field Marshal Montgomery (Northern Ireland); House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead (Scotland); Inveraray & District (Scotland); ScottishPower (Scotland); Simon Fraser University (Canada); St. Laurence O’Toole (Ireland); and Strathclyde Police (Scotland) in the final.

Judges of the Qualifier were Iain MacLellan, Harry Stevenson (piping); D. Goodall (drumming); C. Mordaunt (ensemble).

  1. Just had the privilege of watching the last of the grade 1 bands at the World’s. Sitting here in Ontario and getting to watch this great event I have to say I would be more than happy to have paid for this terrific show. Thanks to the BBC.
